The Human Resources Development Program consists of rotational assignments, shadow exposures, blended learning opportunities and mentoring which will enable associates to develop their skills in support of the HR competencies and PNC’s One HR Model.
During the program, associates gain a unique opportunity to discover strategies for leveraging self-awareness to lead themselves, collaborate with others and demonstrate high performance.
What to Expect During the Program
During each rotation associates can expect to be leveraged as full-time members of the team. This includes having one-on-ones with their rotational manager, attending staff meetings, and being a project team member or individual contributor aligned to the key assignments.
Rotational opportunities are available in the following HR functions:
- Employee Relations
- PNC University (Learning & Development)
- Talent Acquisition (Recruiting)
- Talent Enablement
- Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits)
Associates in this program collaborate with other HR peers on cross-functional projects and help provide meaningful analysis and documentation to drive HR priorities forward.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
A typical work day will include a mix of attending and/or leading meetings with managers, stakeholders, and peers and project time to complete assigned tasks.
Employee Relations associates will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with our Employee Relations team as they assist all levels of employees. Associates will be tasked to collect, analyze and research policy and procedure data to help improve the way our Employee Relations team can best service our employees.
PNC University (Learning & Development) associates will learn how our Learning & Development teams create, modify and deliver learning to our organization, and will have the opportunity to analyze and participate in the creation of learning tools and resources.
Talent Acquisition associates will participate in the full recruiting lifecycle and will have opportunities to screen candidate resumes, follow up with hiring managers, screen applicants over the phone, schedule interviews and extend offers.
Total Rewards associates will see the full performance management cycle by being active members of our Compensation & Benefits teams. Activities may include working through an audit, creating reports and conducting analysis to ensure the performance management cycle moves smoothly.
In addition to rotational work, associates will be assigned a Capstone project halfway through the program and asked to work in a team to complete and present to senior HR leadership at graduation.
Upon the successful completion of PNC’s Human Resources Development Program, associates are placed into a permanent position within Employee Relations, PNC University (Learning & Development), Talent Acquisition (Recruiting), Talent Enablement, or Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits) that aligns with the associate’s skill development and long-term career interests. Placement in other areas of HR may become available based on business need.
Preferred Areas of Study: Human Resources, Business, Business Law, Communications, Finance, Accounting, IT, Economics, Marketing, Math, Statistics, Management, Psychology, Logistics, Engineering, Computer Science.
Desired Skills: Highly motivated and results-driven, with a commitment to excellence. Robust work ethic, with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and customer service orientation. Strong team players, who are able to accept constructive feedback positively with a drive for continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year school or university, 3.0 GPA
