Development Program Details

Program Overview

Operational Excellence Associates will gain exposure to the full life-cycle of a particular line of business products and processes to best understand change and impact on the firm, its customers and shareholders.

What to Expect During the Program

Associates within the Operational Excellence Development Program can expect to rotate a minimum of three times within their specific line of business areas to ensure maximum exposure to the people, processes and systems within the specific line of business.

Prior to their first official business rotation, all Associates will participate in a Core Learning Camp where they will learn Credit, Design Thinking, Risk Management and Supply Chain Management Fundamentals. Additionally, associates can expect to gain a sufficient understanding of how Operations within PNC functions within each line of business but holistically across the firm as well. The following Lines of Business are represented with specific tracks within the Operational Excellence Development Program:

  • Asset Management Operations
  • Commercial Lending Operations 
  • Retail Lending Operations 
  • Retail Bank Operations 
  • Treasury Management Operations

What a Typical Day Looks Like

Associates will participate in a comprehensive learning curriculum, interact with senior management and partake in a robust mentorship program.  Most of the learning will occur through hands on projects undertaken in conjunction with seasoned professionals solving real life banking problems.

Additionally, Operational Excellence Associates will gain the foundational knowledge in PNC’s Leadership Development, credit training, process design, risk / control mapping, root cause analysis, robotics process automation, and how to work on agile teams.

Career Opportunities

Upon the successful completion of the Operational Excellence Development Program, graduates can expect to be placed in one of the following roles:

  • Operations Manager
  • Process Improvement Specialist Senior
  • Business Analysis Consultant
  • Quality Analyst Senior

Preferred Areas of Study: Finance, IT, Economics, Marketing, Math, Statistics, Supply Chain & Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering & Computer Science

Desired Skills: Strong process background and are passionate about learning and development within the Operations side of the Financial Services industry. Strong problem solving, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year school or university, 3.2 GPA
