The challenge takes place December 17-20 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club®, Orlando.
Every December, this tournament brings together the legends of golf with their children in a unique, championship event that celebrates families and relationships, and also helps others in need.
The PNC Championship continues to evolve since its beginning in 1995. Originally named the Father/Son Challenge, it was created by the International Management Group (IMG) to provide an opportunity for professional golfers to play competitive golf alongside their sons. In the following years, the field had expanded to include daughters and grandchildren. The first Son/Father pairing was added in 2017 and in 2019, Annika Sorenstam became the first female professional to join the field, teaming up with her father. In 2020, the name was changed to PNC Championship to reflect the high level of competition and the field composition while still celebrating the family relationships that make this event unique.
Since 2012, PNC has been the presenting sponsor of the event. The sponsorship reflects the values of the groups involved and their focus on relationships, family and community.
Among the most unique events in golf, all professional participants must have won a Major tournament to be eligible to participate. Event highlights at the The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grand Lakes Resort in Orlando include 20 teams, a $1,085,000 purse and over 35 hours of national coverage on NBC and the Golf Channel.
This is a favorite event for the players because it allows them to have experiences with their families that they can’t get anywhere else.
I’ve seen clutch shots in majors and Ryder Cups, all over the place. For our family it doesn’t get much better than that one.
