Ganesh Krishnan is executive vice president and enterprise chief information officer for The PNC Financial Services Group. In this role, he drives the technology vision, strategy, innovations, initiatives and programs for all of PNC’s business lines.

Krishnan is a senior technology executive with 23 plus years of extensive diversified background, having served various industry verticals including the financial industry, insurance & litigation, auditing, information technology, and the medical industry. He has served in the executive technology management leadership role and driven technology strategy, vision, innovation, architecture, engineering & product development.

Prior to being named to his current role in November 2020, Krishnan was chief information officer (CIO) for Corporate & Institutional Banking (C&IB) and Staff Service Technology since 2017, leading technology teams in the areas of innovations, systems engineering, business technology management, performance management, data management, systems development and systems support. Krishnan’s work focused on differentiating PNC C&IB through technology and innovation to improve the customer and employee experience while increasing efficiency and business agility. He drove C&IB’s payments services strategy that resulted in the launch of real-time payments, led service-oriented architecture (SOA) for the bank, the Mobile Center of Excellence programs that launched the PINACLE mobile app, and drove the modernization and transformation of Commercial Banking origination and servicing systems, among other innovations. Krishnan’s leadership also was instrumental in PNC’s technological innovation and support of the CARES Act’s Paycheck Protection Program in 2020.

Krishnan joined PNC in 2008 as a Technology Infrastructure Services manager. Since then, he has held a variety of technology leadership roles and was promoted to executive vice president in March 2018. Before joining PNC, He was chief technology officer and vice president of engineering for Truebaseline Corp, a Pittsburgh-based startup. Krishnan started his career as a software engineer with the National Stock Exchange of India and, after migrating to the U.S. more than two decades ago, held various technology roles for companies including Thomson Financial, Wells Fargo and KPMG.

He is a member of board of numo, a fintech incubator and subsidiary of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., and BITS Executive Board, the technology policy division of the Bank Policy Institute.

Krishnan earned his bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering with distinction from KIT’s College of Engineering, India and an MBA with honors (Beta Gamma Sigma) from Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh.
