Salute our Military

Veterans Enjoy Free Amenities at Father/Son Challenge

On the 18th green at The Ritz Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, the pin flag waves in celebration of a completed round, while the American flag waves above the veterans seated green side to celebrate our freedom and their service.

The PNC Father/Son Challenge is grateful for the men and women who protect the freedoms we all enjoy. PNC not only makes it possible for veterans to see their favorite professional golfers, but to also thank them in person after they have completed their round.

“The tournament means a great deal to many of the veterans who grew up admiring these outstanding golfers,” said Chris Bischoff, a retired five-year U.S. Army Captain who served as a combat infantry officer in the Special Forces. “Many veterans refer to the Palmers’, Nicklaus', Trevino’s and all the others who participate as their heroes of the golf world.”

During the 2017 tournament, all active military, reservists, retirees and their families will enjoy free admission as well as access to the Patriot Pavilion with food and refreshments. The Veterans Area has grown in the past three years and more veterans attend each year.

“The men and women in our military sacrifice so much for our country that it makes sense to have a place where they can relax and enjoy the golf tournament with their families. It’s just a small token of our appreciation for their service,” said Molly Sapienza of PNC corporate sponsorships.

Bob Neitzel, E-6 U.S. Army served four years in Vietnam as a combat medic and has attended past Father/Son Challenge tournaments.

“I truly enjoyed myself and was treated with very nice greetings. I look forward to it every year,’” said Neitzel, also president of the Vietnam and all Veterans of Florida, State Coalition. “Without these accommodations, many of the veterans would not be able to participate. Thank you PNC for taking such good care of us.”

At this year's tournament, all active military, reservists, retirees and their families will enjoy free admission and access to the Patriot Pavilion with food and refreshments.
