Day 11: Pipers Piping Gingerbread Cookies
These delicious and simple gingerbread cookies are piped with frosting and hold tiny pipes!
Supplies
- Spice Cake Mix (15.25-ounce box)
- ½ Cup Butter (room temperature)
- 1 Egg
- Icing
- White fondant
- Edible silver spray
- Small straw
Instructions
- Mix the butter and egg in a large mixing bowl. Sift in the cake mix. Mix together wet and dry ingredients.
- Chill the batter for about an hour.
- Roll the batter out between two sheets of wax paper. Cut the gingerbread men with a cookie cutter.
- Set aside excess dough. Carefully remove each cookie from waxed paper and place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
- Break off a small piece of the white fondant and roll out like a snake. Trim to the size desired for a flute.
- Use a straw to add buttons and a mouthpiece to your flute.
- Then add a coating of the edible silver spray to the flute. Allow to dry completely
Tips & Tricks
- If the batter is crumbly, just knead it a few times to pull it together.
- Roll the dough fairly thin so the cookies hold their shape better.
