Employee Education Wins a 1st Place Eddy Award

Each year, Pensions & Investments[1] announces its Eddy Awards, which recognize plan sponsors and service providers for their leadership efforts in offering investment education to defined contribution plan participants.

PNC Retirement Solutions® is proud to be the recipient of a 2017 first place Eddy Award for the education campaign we designed for members of the Iron Workers of Western Pennsylvania Profit Sharing Plan.

"We feel honored to be recognized by Pensions & Investments,” said Brad Bonno, Director of Product Delivery, who oversees the Employee Education team at PNC Retirement Solutions, “because it reflects the exceptional teamwork we build with plan sponsors to craft employee education solutions that meet their particular needs and help members understand the benefits of planning for retirement.”

The Eddy Award cited PNC Retirement Solutions for its use of “eye-catching visuals and short, clear messages to drive awareness [of the plan] and online tools.”

The primary objectives of the educational outreach for the Iron Workers of Western Pennsylvania Profit Sharing Plan was to help workers understand how to access and manage their accounts online.

Educating these members can present some unique challenges: Members’ job sites change from project to project and access to computers during working hours is limited.

Reflecting these workplace realities, PNC designed a two-part direct mail campaign to reach workers where they would receive it, communicating core messages in language the workers were likely to understand and using images to which they could relate.  Web usage was boosted by at least 20% after each mailing.

In 2016, PNC Retirement Solutions was recognized with a 1st place Signature Award from the Plan Sponsor Council of America for a separate employee education campaign.
