What is the Panther Payment Portal?

Based on a request from students for a more efficient refund process, FIT initiated a request for proposal (RFP) process to contract with a vendor to provide fast, convenient processing of refunds from financial aid or other sources on their student account. The Panther Payment Portal is the result of this process.

What are my options for receiving financial aid or other refunds? You have 4 options for receiving payment:
  1. A deposit into a Free PNC Checking Account
  2. ACH (electronic transfer) to an account at another Financial Institution
  3. A disposable PNC Prepaid Visa® Card
  4. A paper check if no faster delivery option is selected. ( this remains the default payment method)

How do I activate my account/select my refund preference? Students will receive an activation code through the mail. The activation code allows them to log in to Panther Payment Portal so they can select a refund preference. The advantage of having your refund deposited directly into either a PNC bank account or an account at another bank is that you will receive your refund faster, and you don’t have to worry about whether your address is current. Security is a priority at PNC. FIT and PNC are committed to protecting the security and confidentiality of your funds and personal information. In addition to authenticating your PNC Prepaid Visa Card, this process also provides access to view your balance and past transactions online. Back to Top How does PNC Prepaid Visa Card work?

If you select this payment option, you will receive a pre-paid card with the amount you are owed available on it. Once you activate this card, you can use it for purchases anywhere VISA is accepted or you can deposit the funds at your financial institution.

Each time you are owed a refund a new PNC Prepaid Visa Card will be sent to you with the funds you are owed. That is why this card is sometimes referred to as a disposable prepaid card.

Why is the PNC Prepaid Visa® Card disposable? What does that mean? The PNC Prepaid Visa® Card is disposable as it is intended to only be issued one time. It means that, if you select this method, FIT will issue your refund through PNC onto a PNC Prepaid Visa® Card that you can dispose of once the balance is zero. After your funds are spent, you may safely dispose of your card by cutting it up or shredding it. If you have chosen this payment option, you will receive a new PNC Prepaid Visa Card each time FIT owes you a refund.

What will happen to my refund if I don’t activate my PNC Prepaid Visa Card? If you choose to receive your refunds by a PNC Prepaid Visa Card and do not activate, all funds will be returned to the Title IV Program, if applicable or to FIT after 180 days .
