PNC helps clients prepare for 5010 implementation
PNC is dedicated to supporting you in every aspect of the revenue cycle. That's why we have established a team of representatives from all areas of PNC Healthcare to assist you with your needs in the migration to 5010.
On January 15th, 2010, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released the final rule to adopt updated HIPAA standards: ASC X12 version 5010 and NCPDP version D.0. All covered entities are required to be fully compliant with the new 5010 standards no later than January 1, 2012.
The new regulation facilitates the U.S. transition to an electronic healthcare environment through updated standards for electronic healthcare transactions.
In order for the industry to prepare for 5010, a transition period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 has been designated for external testing of the new 5010 transactions. PNC has already started full-scale internal testing to accommodate transactions in both the 4010 and 5010 versions. All our systems will be ready to handle 5010 transactions if they are received via production (or testing feeds) starting in February 2011 in order to accommodate early adopters of the 5010 standard.
PNC has created a 835 Remittance test file that providers can use to process through their billing system to determine 5010 version and production readiness. Click here for more information.
PNC will communicate ongoing plans and progress of the 5010 transition to allow you to be fully prepared by the HHS deadlines. During the transition process, we will work with you to accommodate use of both 4010 and 5010 versions as needed.
