Scheduled to open in 2010, this high-performing building in the heart of our nation's captial, demonstrates PNC's commitment to the Greater Washington Area and its ongoing leadership in in sustainable business practices.

The joint venture of PNC and Vornado/Charles E. Smith, a leading developer in the region, has introduced an innovative design for Washington, D.C.'s first Platinum-level building, as certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The 350,000 square foot building will house PNC's new regional headquarters, other office tenants, retail space, parking and other features.

800 17th Street/PNC Place, at the corner of 17th and H Streets in Downtown Washington, D.C., is expected to be the first office building in the district to apply for United States Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum-level certification.

Water flows over metal mesh to form a three story "climate wall" in the lobby of 800 17th Street/PNC Place. The climate wall works with the lobby's vegetation to efficiently condition the air.

Hot and humid air is naturally conditioned as it passes through three stories of flowing water. The "climate wall" in the lobby at 800 17th Street/PNC Place, will increase comfort and improve the building?s energy efficiency.
