PNC Recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month

At PNC, we believe that diversity initiatives make good business sense. We support diversity and inclusion in many ways, including programs that engage our customers, communities, employees and suppliers. From September 15-October 15, PNC commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month with a number of community events and sponsorships, including:

  • Central Indiana
    • El Grito Event: September 15
      PNC is sponsoring El Grito Event, or Mexican Independence Day, in Garfield Park in Indianapolis on Sept. 15 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. More than 3,000 attendees from the Hispanic Community are expected. PNC will host a booth at which employees will distribute information about our bilingual products, services and locations.

    • Fiesta Indianapolis: September 21
      PNC is sponsoring Fiesta Indianapolis at American Legion Mall on Sept. 21. More than 20,000 attendees are expected. PNC representatives across various lines of business and EBRG members will distribute information about PNC's diversity initiatives and bilingual products, services and locations.

  • Central PA
    • Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-off Celebration and Block Party: September 14
      PNC is sponsoring a kick-off celebration and block party at the Latino Hispanic Community Center in Harrisburg on Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 300 attendees, including clients, prospective clients and community leaders, are expected to attend.

    • Jose Hernandez Hispanic Center of York 4th National Hispanic Heritage Month Festival: September 28
      PNC is sponsoring the Jose Hernandez Hispanic Center of York's 4th National Hispanic Heritage Month Festival at Reservoir Park in York on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 200 attendees, including clients, prospective clients and local community leaders, are expected.

    • Fiesta en la Plaza: October 10
      PNC is sponsoring the Interagency Hispanic Heritage Month Planning Committee's annual Fiesta en la Plaza at Soldier's Grove in Harrisburg on Oct. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 100 attendees, including public officials, state employees, clients and prospective clients, are expected. PNC representatives will engage families in children's activities and distribute information about Grow Up Great.

  • Chicago: August 29
    PNC sponsored the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC) Business Expo at the Navy Pier on Aug. 29. Attendees from the Hispanic business community enjoyed breakfast, heard from business and political leaders and participated in business workshops. PNC employees networked with Hispanic business owners and distributed information about our bilingual products, services and locations.

  • Eastern Carolina
    • Durham Latino Festival: September 28
      PNC is sponsoring the Durham Latino Festival at Rock Quarry Park on Sept. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. An expected 5,000 attendees will dance to live music, taste authentic foods, visit the marketplace for arts and crafts, participate in a soccer tournament and engage their children in hands-on activities. PNC is hosting a promotional tent at which employees will showcase Virtual Wallet and multicultural marketing materials.

    • Hispanic Market Advantage Conference: October 14 - 15
      PNC is sponsoring the 13th annual Hispanic Market Advantage Conference at the Hilton Durham on Oct. 14 and 15. 100 attendees from the business community are expected. PNC is hosting a booth at which employees will network and gain knowledge on how to market to the Latino population.

  • Florida East
    • Connect After 5: September 25
      PNC is sponsoring Connect After 5 at the Historical Society of Palm Beach on Sept. 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event, hosted by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Bar Association and the Historical Society, celebrates the 500th anniversary of Florida.

    • Latin American Food & Wine Festival: October 24
      PNC is sponsoring the Latin American Food & Wine Festival at Mainstreet at Midtown in Palm Beach on Oct. 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. The festival will feature an extensive selection of wine and gourmet food, along with live Latin music and artwork by Latin artists.

  • Florida West: October 16
    PNC is sponsoring Fiesta en Tampa at the Straz Center Morsani Hall on Oct. 16 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Music from Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona and other Latin composers will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Lecuona's death. Attendees will include those from the Hispanic community and those dedicated to the Florida Orchestra.

  • Kentucky: September 20 - 21
    PNC is sponsoring the Festival Latino de Lexington at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza on Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. More than 30,000 attendees are expected to attend the Latino celebration, which will feature Caribbean music and dancing, fireworks, authentic cuisine, Latino art vendors and youth activities. PNC representatives will distribute information about Grow Up Great and speak with attendees about business and consumer banking products and services.

  • Northern Indiana: October 12
    PNC is sponsoring the 2013 Hispanic Education Fair at Anthis Career Center in Fort Wayne on Oct. 12. 200 attendees, including high school students and their parents, will learn how to pursue a higher education and will hear from keynote speaker Wendy Robinson, Superintendant of Fort Wayne Community Schools.

  • Philadelphia: October 5
    PNC is sponsoring the 2013 Hispanic Choice Awards , which will be held at the Merriam Theater on Oct. 5. The Hispanic Choice Awards engage and connect the diverse Latino community to honor Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware's Latino professionals, organizations and businesses across all sectors via a three-part event: a red-carpet entrance (5 p.m.); the televised awards ceremony featuring live performances from today's top Latin music performers and appearances by local and national leaders (7 p.m.); and a VIP After Party (9 p.m.).

  • Pittsburgh
    • ALPFA: October 1
      PNC is sponsoring an ALPFA Hispanic Heritage Month event at the Roberto Clemente Museum on Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. More than 100 attendees from the Latino community will network, enjoy a Latin American Dance Performance and hear remarks from representatives from the Roberto Clemente Museum.
    • Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce : October 18
      PNC is sponsoring the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (PMAHCC) Hispanic Heritage Month Gala on Oct. 18 at the Westin Convention Center Hotel.

  • Western Carolina: October 13
    PNC is sponsoring the Latin American Festival at Symphony Park at South Park Mall in Charlotte on Oct. 13 from noon to 8 p.m. The event is expected to attract more than 20,000 attendees and will feature authentic Latin American cuisine, local artisans, live visual art demonstrations and folkloric dance performances.

In addition, PNC is sponsoring 10 private events around the country, which will provide networking, mentoring and professional development opportunities for members of the Hispanic business community, state and local leaders and PNC employees. These events are intended to encourage the exchange of ideas and best practices among attendees.
