Diana Reid, executive vice president and head of PNC Real Estate, earned the number 17 spot on the magazine's "25 Women to Watch" list. As US Banker put it: "These 25 women are tackling the industry's challenges head on-and in the process reshaping its future."
Reid's contributions as head of PNC Real Estate can be seen throughout the business segment, notes her nominating application. Among the examples are Midland Loan Services' continued high industry rankings, and the unified and integrated approach to the commercial real estate business she has brought.
The publication notes the challenges Reid faced with the acquisition of National City when she found herself managing a portfolio that was much larger and had much larger problems. US Banker commended her for quickly recognizing that the commercial real estate market was going to be down for an extended period of time, and supporting an internal task force of professionals with commercial real estate expertise, and others with workout experience, to start moving bad debt off the books.
As Reid notes, she doesn't shy away from the challenges.
"If I look at my career, I have grown professionally the most when the market and the business are in the midst of volatility and change," she said.
US Banker names women to these annual lists from thousands of nominations. Criteria includes financial performance, business initiatives and results, as well as job complexity and responsibility, management style, best practices and innovation, charitable work and overall influence.
