Sheila Lee
President and CEO,
Learning Everywhere

"PNC has been a tremendous advocate for me as a small business owner, offering me support at every turn. As we continue to grow, we look forward to having PNC as a partner. I tell everyone I know, 'If you need a bank, PNC is the best!'"

Strengthening Organizations Around the Globe

In an economic environment where individual and team performance is more critical to success than ever before, Sheila Lee's training organization, Learning Everywhere, is in high demand. For corporations, government entities and nonprofits around the world, Learning Everywhere develops programs that teach leadership, mentoring and coaching, communication, decision making, and change and performance management skills - the essential tools of cultivating a positive, productive work environment.

Sheila and her virtual training teams have taken on assignments as small as five individuals (members of a strategic committee for a nonprofit organization) and as large as 15,000 (employees of a federal government agency). Although her long-term plan includes building a full-time staff, she currently taps into the expertise of 60 subject-matter and training consultants around the world on an as-need basis.

"We have cataloged our consultants' capabilities and strengths for ease of selection as a project scope is identified," Sheila explains. "We consider their subject-matter expertise, certifications, degrees, location and other specifics that will contribute to a project's success."

From Here and There to Learning Everywhere

Before establishing her business, Sheila honed her training expertise in roles with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, an independent consulting firm, the Washington, D.C. public school system, the Peace Corps and a federal government union. In 1997, she seized an opportunity to control her own professional future by becoming a consultant, and in 2005, launched Sheila Lee & Associates LLC, renamed Learning Everywhere in 2008.

In 2009, Learning Everywhere hit the million-dollar mark, the qualification for membership in the Women Presidents' Organization (WPO), a peer-to-peer mentoring organization for higher revenue-generating female-owned companies. "Our certifications have been vital to our growth," says Sheila, whose company is certified as a Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) contractor, Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Women's Business Enterprise (WBE). She is also certified as a Mission Oriented Business Integrated Services (MOBIS) and Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) contractor.

"We utilize the Federal Business Opportunities Web site to identify contract opportunities, but even more importantly, we leverage the relationships I've built over the years," she notes. The people who know us and value our capabilities actively seek our support when they encounter an opportunity that requires SBA 8(a) or other certifications. These relationships have opened the doors for us to multimillion-dollar contracts."

Sheila also credits her relationship with PNC with helping her company flourish. "Finding a responsive, caring bank wasn't easy," notes Sheila. "When I wanted to establish a line of credit a few years back, I approached PNC after a negative experience with another bank. Watchen Bruce and the rest of my PNC team restored my faith, making the process quick and easy. I moved my business checking to PNC and am working with them on a loan for our new office building. PNC has been a tremendous advocate for me as a small business owner, offering me support at every turn. As we continue to grow, we look forward to having PNC as a partner. I tell everyone I know, 'If you need a bank, PNC is the best!'"
