"PNC predecessor National City helped me secure payroll services, which streamlines our processes significantly, and also introduced me to their Wealth Management group, which offers me convenience and peace of mind."

I officially started my business in 1998, but had been involved in airport concessions since the mid '80s. My mom's business, which she established in 1984, was a partner in the concessions operations of Palm Beach International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. I worked with her from the time I was a teenager. Once I earned my degree, I turned my attention to building my own business.
I started as managing partner of a Miami Subs at Palm Beach International. Shortly after, I had the opportunity to join with the majority partner to get involved in all of the airport concessions there. Collectively today, we own and operate all of the 15 food-and-beverage concessions in the airport, which include Burger King®, Starbucks®, California Pizza Kitchen®, Quiznos® and Cinnabon®, among others.
As our Palm Beach operations took off, I identified additional markets that were a good fit for Tarra Enterprises. I approached the Hudson Group, who owned the newsstand I had managed in Atlanta as part of my mother's business. Three years ago, Hudson awarded me the opportunity to work with them in Fort Lauderdale. Today, I'm the majority partner at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, with eight operations in Terminals 1 and 2 which include a variety of specialty stores and kiosks.
Most recently, we've entered the Atlantic City and Miami markets - Atlantic City in 2008 and Miami in 2009. We're working toward growing these relationships, including introducing a food concept, Euro Café®, in Atlantic City in the summer of 2010.
PNC, through it's predecessor National City, has provided a solid support network throughout all of our growth. In addition to the banking products and services I've needed for my business, PNC helped me secure payroll services. That streamlines our processes significantly, as we pay hundreds of employees throughout our organization. On the personal side, PNC introduced me to their Wealth Management group, which offers me convenience and peace of mind. And the WEDO (Women's Economic Development Outreach) speaker series they sponsored was phenomenal. Having the opportunity to hear other professional women's stories and finding out we all face similar challenges helps me identify new solutions and ideas.
It hasn't been easy to keep growing through these tough economic times, but we've continued to invest in our operations because we see tremendous growth potential ahead. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Atlantic City are all poised for growth, and we're making plans to introduce new concepts in each of these markets when the timing is right. We're looking to expand beyond these markets as well, bringing airports across the United States branded food-and-beverage and specialty retail operations that delight their passengers and fuel their profitability.
