I'm Leticia Guajardo Martinez, and I'm co-owner of Laredo Title & Abstract. We are a solution to every title problem that you can think of. Probably the most exciting part of being in the title industry is solving problems. And seeing them be able to continue along their journey.
I love meeting the people that come into our office. I love hearing their stories. You cry with them because they're selling their parent’s home. You cry with them because it's their first home. And they're thrilled that they never thought they could do it. So, you go through all these emotions together with the customer and we care. And they can tell when you care.
We have the first and only drive through in a title company here in Webb County or Laredo, Texas, because when I had two children in car seats, I realized how difficult it was to just pick up a check, drop off a package. And so, most of our real estate agents are mothers. We have a drive through that has been the salvation for so many of our clients.
If I were to give anyone advice, you need to have confidence in what you're doing. And if you love what you're doing, then do it. But do it with every bit of energy that you have. Know the business that you're going to be involved in, because if you don't know the business and will only be relying on employees, then it may not be as easy as you think it will be.
Having financial partners that trust you, because if you don't have the support of your financial partners, then you really don't feel like you have that safety net. That is extremely important because it gives us the courage to continue our business and feel that we have that support.
I am one of Laredo's biggest cheerleaders. I have a passion about Laredo. I think Laredo is a land of opportunity because if I was able to become a business owner and succeed, I think anyone can, if they're willing to work for it.
My daughter tells me, ‘Well, mom, not everyone finds you know what they love to do. The first job they get, like you did.’ And so, I have to say, I've been blessed.
