I'm Jenny Jing Zhu. I'm a founder of Lush Decor and author of Dream Weaver. I believe where you start doesn't limit where you can go.
I grew up from a very remote village in China, and we didn't have electricity until second grade. So we were raised to, you know, to survive. I left my village, went to Beijing, started as a hotel maid, and then ran a dry cleaning business and started a few small businesses.
When I was 26 years old, I came to the United States and, barely speak English and started as, nanny. Then I got inspired by Vera Wang, who is a fashion designer.
So I applied to Fashion Institute of Technology when I was 28.
In 2008, during the financial crisis, I launched Lush Décor.
It was a very difficult in the first year. My business partner fired me.
So I fought, I rebuilt, and I scaled the business Lush Decor to over $100 million profitable revenue. And, I won Entrepreneur of the Year.
I always say my journey feel like, like from survival to success and to serve.
I wrote the book Dream Weaver. And started the Dream Weaver Foundation to inspire and uplift women, to dream beyond their circumstances.
The first thing is you don't have to be fully ready. You just need to start.
The second thing is, you don't need to figure it all out. You just needed to know your why.
Because that will give you the strength and resilience the burn goes through, the burnout, everything. I think another one would it be like, you know, the confidence.
I think the confidence is the action. You just needed to start the first messy step, then the second, then the trust to the clarity will be on the other side of the actions.
