PNC EarnedIt

On-demand pay to help your employees access their earned wages when they need it.

Overview

What PNC Delivers

PNC EarnedIt, powered by DailyPay, provides your employees with an easy-to-use, on-demand pay experience which gives them access to the pay they’ve earned, as they earn it.

Giving your employees the ability to access their pay as it is earned can help them improve their financial wellness. This voluntary, opt-in benefit enables employees to harness the power of their earned pay so they can meet unexpected expenses, pay bills on time and save money on their own schedule.

How it Works

PNC EarnedIt is simple to implement and operate:

  • Technology interfaces easily with nearly any payroll and time management system.
  • Sits on top of your existing payroll process and requires no changes to how you run payroll today — no changes to payroll processes, tax withholdings or paystub production, and no funding required by you.
  • 24/7 customer support is provided to your employees to ensure their questions are answered with no additional expense to your organization.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

On-demand pay provides the ability for employees to access their pay as it is earned – instead of having to wait for payday.

When employees have greater visibility and control over their earned pay, they experience lower stress due to the state of their finances, increased motivation and productivity, and an improved opinion of their employer. These outcomes return tangible benefits for employers: better employee retention, more applications for open roles, and employees who are motivated to pick up more shifts and work longer hours.

The PNC EarnedIt solution is powered by DailyPay, a leading on-demand pay provider. DailyPay’s mission is to build a new financial system that helps ensure money is always in the right place at the right time, through their massive data network, proprietary funding model, industry-leading compliance and security, and connections into more than 6,000 endpoints in the banking system.

Employers pay no setup or maintenance costs. Employees receive instant access to earned pay for a transparent, ATM-like fee or for free with next-business day transfers. There are no subscription fees, solicitation for “tips” or any other type of hidden fees. Transaction fees can be paid by the employee, the employer or a combination of both.

PNC EarnedIt works universally across payroll and time management systems. With 180+ pre-built integrations with many of the most widely used payroll and timekeeping systems. We will support and lead you through the implementation process from start to finish so you can focus on what matters most.

Employee Experience Questions

PNC EarnedIt comes with a committed client success team that manages the program launch and training for employees and managers. This team supports employee enrollment with employer-specific communications and materials. Users also have access to 24-hour customer support seven days a week via phone, in-app chat and email.

Employees access their earned pay by requesting a transfer in the PNC EarnedIt app to their bank account, debit card or pay card. DailyPay funds the transfer, and all transactions are resolved through your company’s normal payroll process. There is no change to your company’s current payroll process, including the timing of payroll funds or withholding of taxes. When an employee enrolls in PNC EarnedIt, they can view and track their earned pay, as they earn it. Their available balance updates each working day for which data is provided by their employer. Changes to an employee’s available balance are reflected in real-time in the PNC EarnedIt app.

When an employee enrolls in PNC EarnedIt, they can view and track their earned pay as they earn it. Their EarnedIt balance updates each working day for which data is provided by their employer and is then displayed prominently in the PNC EarnedIt app.

Cycle Feature Questions

Yes. The capability for bulk payments is available.

Employers select the payment option, fill out the payment info, and then review and submit. DailyPay then funds the Cycle payment to employees; the employer repays DailyPay in seven days, including fees. Additional details:

  • Selecting ‘Termination’ as the reason in the payment information also disables the employee’s PNC EarnedIt account.
  • Dual approval can be set up for companies who require a second level of review for payments.
  • Employees receive same-day payment when DailyPay receives the request for payment by 3:00 p.m. ET.

Please note:

If DailyPay receives the payment request before the 3:00 p.m. ET cutoff, the payment will be sent as a Same Day ACH and is expected to be delivered to the user’s destination account by midnight on the same day. Employers will be assessed a transfer fee for payment sent to a non-PNC EarnedIt account.

  • No more paper checks: A digital payment solution means there’s no need to print and rush-ship checks or maintain pay cards for off-cycle payments.
  • Same-day payments to an employee’s preferred account: DailyPay funds Cycle payments to employees through PNC EarnedIt when instructions are received by cut-off time.
  • Address termination pay issues in states where it should be given to the employee on their final day of employment.
  • Simplify the process of paying employees for missing hours, bonuses, tips, and other payroll corrections.
  • Reduce costs associated with off-cycle payroll payments.

Yes. The limits are $2,000 per payment, or $50,000 per payment if a secondary approver is enabled.

Tips Feature Questions

The PNC EarnedIt Tips feature provides employees with real-time tracking and access to their earned tips. Employees can see their tipped pay alongside their hourly pay on the home screen of the PNC EarnedIt app. And, just like with their hourly pay, they can see how much is available now and can send the funds to any debit card or bank account.

  • Scalable: Tips access is pre-funded by DailyPay for PNC EarnedIt users.
  • Instant: Employees are able to access their tips in real-time and send to any debit card or bank account in real time for a small fee.
  • Safe: No need to keep cash on hand .
  • Convenient: Employees see total earnings from both shifts and tips in one place.

  1. Earnings information is sent to DailyPay
DailyPay seamlessly and securely integrates with your payroll system to leave little to no added work for payroll teams. Earnings information is shared with DailyPay each day.
  2. Employee chooses tip destination
Employees can see their tips and hourly earnings in the PNC EarnedIt app in real-time, where they can track, transfer, and set aside funds to save. Employees can transfer earnings from tips within minutes or the next business day.
  3. Settlement takes place through the employer’s regular payroll process
When an employee requests a transfer of their earned pay, DailyPay (on behalf of PNC EarnedIt) directly funds 100% of the transfer value. All on-demand pay transactions are then settled automatically through the employer’s normal payroll process.

Salaried Employees Questions

  • Salaried employees who have enrolled in PNC EarnedIt and have made at least one PNC EarnedIt transfer: There is a three-business-day verification period at the start of each pay period. Once an employee has made their first transfer in the PNC EarnedIt app and their routing and account information has been updated to PNC EarnedIt in your organization’s payroll system, they will have access to a portion of their earnings from the previous pay period. This can help ease the wait during the verification period.
  • Salaried employees who have enrolled in PNC EarnedIt but have NOT made their PNC EarnedIt first transfer: If an employee hasn’t yet made a transfer, after the three-business-day verification period at the start of each pay period, they will have access to their earnings starting at 8 p.m. ET on the fourth business day of every pay period. This means that for the first three business days of the employee’s pay period, they will not be able to transfer any of their earnings for that pay period and may see a $0 Available Balance.

An employee’s Available Balance uses data from your organization and is calculated based on their last three pay periods. Withholdings and deductions are estimated based on this projection, and a portion of this earned pay projection is available as the Available Balance.

A salaried employee’s Available Balance does not increase over the weekend. If a pay period starts on a weekend, the employee will see their earnings in their account and have access to the updated Available Balance at 8 p.m. ET on the fourth business day.

Yes. Employees with an annual salary of $200,000+ or an hourly base rate of $100+ per hour are not eligible for PNC EarnedIt.
