Amy Wierenga

Chief Risk Officer

Amy Wierenga is chief risk officer for The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. In this role, she is accountable for PNC’s enterprise risk management strategic direction, overseeing all financial (credit, market, liquidity, capital) and non-financial (compliance, technology, operational) risk disciplines and ensuring the bank maintains a strong risk and control culture where all employees understand the importance of risk management, ethics and compliance.

Prior to being named to her current position in September 2025, Wierenga served as the head of Financial and Model Risk for Independent Risk Management, leading the bank’s chief credit officer, chief market risk officer, chief model risk officer and credit risk review organizations.

Wierenga joined PNC in 2024 from GCM Grosvenor where she was managing director, Investments and chief risk officer responsible for global risk strategy, oversight, and quantitative modeling & research. She served as a member of GCM Grosvenor’s Absolute Return Strategies, Alternative Credit, Private Equity, Real Estate and Infrastructure Investment committees.

Prior to GCM Grosvenor, she spent over a decade at BlueMountain Capital Management, as partner, chief risk officer and head of Risk & Portfolio Construction. Her leadership was instrumental to enabling the company's growth into a global multi-strategy, multi-fund manager known for its integrity, collaborative rigor and strong internal control culture.

Previously, Wierenga served at Merrill Lynch, managing risk for one of the top U.S. government and agency securities and interest rate derivatives desks on Wall Street. Wierenga started her career as a commissioned bank examiner and market risk specialist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

She serves as a trustee and Endowment & Investment Committee chair for Butler University, and is a director and officer of the Society of Quantitative Analysts (SQA).

Wierenga received her B.S. in economics and B.A. in music cum laude from Butler University and her MBA in analytic finance, econometrics and statistics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
