Mark Wiedman

President

Mark Wiedman is president of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. and its wholly owned banking subsidiary, PNC Bank National Association. In this role, he oversees PNC’s primary lines of business and the Regional Presidents Office.

Prior to joining PNC in April 2025, Wiedman spent 21 years at BlackRock, including 13 years on the executive committee. His years at BlackRock centered on transforming businesses through organic strategies and acquisitions, creating scale economies with technology and brand, and forming new businesses in joint ventures.

Wiedman joined BlackRock in 2004 to help start the Financial Markets Advisory team, advising financial institutions on capital markets and balance sheets issues. He led BlackRock’s emergency assistance to governments and central banks during the financial crisis. Wiedman led BlackRock's 2008 co-creation of Penny Mac (NYSE:PFSI), now the number two mortgage bank in the United States, and served on its board 2008-2019.

Wiedman most recently headed the Global Client Business, responsible for BlackRock’s $11 trillion in commercial relationships, partnerships and joint ventures with financial institutions and investors. From 2011-2019, he served as global head of iShares and Index Investments and led its growth from $500 billion to $1.7 trillion. In 2009, he led the BGI-BlackRock integration, still the largest merger in the asset management industry, and then headed strategy for the combined firm.

Before joining BlackRock, he was senior advisor to the Under Secretary for Domestic Finance at the U.S. Treasury and clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago.

Wiedman earned a Bachelor of Arts, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, in Social Studies from Harvard College, and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. He has taught courses in finance and law at Yale Law and Renmin University in Beijing.
