Chief Investment Strategist


Yung-Yu is the chief investment strategist for the PNC Asset Management Group. In this role, his primary responsibility is to develop and implement investment strategies while overseeing all investment strategy-related activities for PNC Private Bank®, PNC Private Bank Hawthorn® and PNC Institutional Asset Management®. Yung-Yu leads the team that establishes overall strategic and tactical asset allocation guidance for client portfolios, manages the evolution of the investment processes, provides thought leadership on key investment issues and authors numerous publications. He also performs research and analytics that aid in developing market forecasts, identifying thematic investment ideas, and help drive the overall investment recommendations of the firm while also managing the firm’s asset allocation models.


From 2016 to most recently, Yung Yu was the chief investment officer for BMO Wealth Management ($60+ billion in assets under management).

In 2009 to 2016 he worked for Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as an assistant professor of finance. Prior to his role as professor, Yung-Yu worked for Smurfit-Stone Packaging Solution Centers, Taipei, Taiwan as the Taiwan Branch Manager where he

Yung-Yu graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from Williams College and with a Doctorate in finance from the University of Utah.
