Scott Lavelle, CFA, FRM, CAIA

Head of Investment Advisor Research


Scott is the managing director of the Investment Advisor Research (IAR) and Product Management group. He leads IAR, which is responsible for selection and monitoring of external investment managers across traditional and alternative strategies. In addition, IAR performs operational and counterparty risk analysis. Product Management is responsible for identifying the optimal investment vehicle and negotiating pricing to deliver investment products. Scott chairs the Investment Advisor Research Committee and is a voting member of the Investment Policy Committee and Portfolio Construction Committee.


Prior to his current position, Scott served as an analyst in the IAR group, where he performed due diligence on external investment managers across equity, fixed income and alternative strategies. He also participated extensively in a number of strategic projects.

Prior to joining PNC, he was an investment analyst at Sage Financial Group, responsible for manager due diligence and asset allocation modeling. Scott also managed fixed income and equity portfolios at Wells Fargo Wealth Management. He began his career as an equity trader in 1998. 

Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Science in finance from Boston College. Scott holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations.
