PINACLE® Security

PNC has implemented a comprehensive suite of security controls to help address the increasing volume and sophistication of online banking cyber-threats. PNC's secured data centers utilize a multi-layer defense that includes network firewalls, intrusion detection and system monitoring.

PINACLE®, PNC's top-rated corporate online and mobile banking platform, provides an array of optional and mandatory security controls including secondary approval processes, company-administered user permissions, as well as additional user authentication and fraud detection processes.

In addition to the security controls we provide, there are a number of precautions you can take to help safeguard your accounts and your financial information:

  • Never provide your access credentials (PINACLE Company User ID, Operator ID, Password, or Token Passcode/Serial Number) to anyone.
  • Be aware of unusual online prompts during your PINACLE login, such as multiple prompts for your token passcode, a prompt to have a second user log in from your PC, and/or a prompt to provide your personal contact information.
    PNC will never call you or send you an email or text message requesting your access credentials or account number. In addition, we will never call you and ask you to have a second user log in from your PC.
  • Verify and validate all payment requests. If you receive an email payment request or a request to change payment routing instructions – even if it's from a known supplier or company executive – we urge you to verify the authenticity of the request verbally by contacting the requestor, using a known telephone only. Do not use email or any telephone numbers provided in the email to verify the request.
  • Educate employees on cyber threats, such as those noted above, as well as general safe cyber hygiene habits (for example, never open attachments or click on links in emails from unrecognized senders).
