Dr. Preble provides strategic vision and leadership for developing ADA policy regarding practice issues and impacting national oral health care quality, focusing on the needs of patients and members from all practice/professional modalities. He leads an operating agency that promotes the ADA as the pre-eminent, nationally and internationally trusted resource for the dental profession, healthcare agencies and other stakeholders regarding oral health. The Practice Institute is committed to increasing the ADA’s influence with third-party payers, legislators and regulators to protect and advance the profession. Dr. Preble is also responsible for the administration of all standards activities for five commission-like agencies: Dental Quality Alliance, Standards Committee on Dental Products, Standards Committee on Dental Informatics, Code Maintenance Committee and SNODENT® Maintenance Committee.

At the ADA, Dr. Preble previously served as Vice President, Practice Institute, Director of the Council on Dental Benefit Programs and Director of the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Dr. Preble has a diverse background and experience base as he has practiced dentistry for over 20 years, holds a legal degree, holds the designation of Certified Association Executive from the American Society of Association Executives and has earned a Certificate of Professional Achievement in Non-Profit Management from the Kellogg School of Management. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the American College of Legal Medicine. He earned his B.S. from Marquette, his D.D.S. from Georgetown and his J.D. from St. Thomas.
