Does PNC support Android Pay?
Yes. PNC customers can now add PNC Visa consumer and small business debit and credit cards and SmartAccess® cards to Android Pay. PNC commercial and MasterCard® credit cards are not eligible at this time. You can add an unlimited number of credit and debit cards to Android Pay.

What mobile devices are eligible for Android Pay?
To use Android Pay, customers must have an NFC-enabled Android device running Android OS 4.4 (KitKat) or higher. The following devices running KitKat are not eligible for Android Pay because they lack an NFC antenna:
How do I add my PNC card to Android Pay?
PNC customers using an eligible Android mobile device will use the Android Pay app to add and manage their credit and debit cards. To add your first card to Android Pay, you will open the Android Pay app and select the “Add Credit or Debit Card” option from the menu under the (+) button in the bottom right corner of the screen. If you already have a PNC debit or credit card enrolled with Google Wallet, you can import it into Android Pay as your first card simply by selecting it from the on-screen list and confirming the security code on the back of your card.
To add a new or second PNC card to Android Pay, select the “Add Another Card” option and use the device camera to capture your card information or type it in manually. Some customers may also be required to verify the card they added to Android Pay by logging into the PNC Mobile Banking app when prompted. Once verified with PNC, your debit or credit card will be ready to use with Android Pay on your mobile device.
How do I verify my card for Android Pay?
For security reasons, you may be asked to provide extra verification of your identity to activate the cards you’ve added to Android Pay. To verify your card, simply tap on the desired card within the Android Pay app to view the card detail page and select the “sign into card issuer’s app” option. This will direct you to the PNC Mobile Banking app, or the Google Play store if you do not have the app already installed. Once you log in using your Online Banking credentials, you will be guided through the verification process. Once completed, you card will be ready to use with Android Pay.
Please note that the self-service verification option using the PNC Mobile Banking application is not available for customers who only have a business credit card with PNC.
How do I use Android Pay?
When making in-store purchases with Android Pay, simply unlock your mobile device using your fingerprint, PIN, pattern or passcode and hold it near the NFC-equipped payment terminal. You do not need to open the Android Pay app to initiate the transaction. The payment will automatically be processed using your default debit or credit card. To pay with a card other than your default card, prior to making a payment you must unlock your mobile device, open the Android Pay app, tap the card you would like to pay to view the card details screen and select the option “Set as default card.”. This will make the selected card your new default card. When you attempt to make a purchase with Android Pay, you will now be able to complete your purchase using the desired card.
Your experience with Android Pay may vary by merchant. If asked to verify the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, provide the merchant with the last four digits of the device account number. This number can be found by opening the Android Pay app and selecting the desired card to view the detail page. You may also be asked to provide a signature or debit card PIN to complete your transaction.
How will Android Pay keep my information protected?
With Android Pay, your card information is never stored on the physical device or shared with the merchant. When you make a purchase, a digital account number along with a dynamic, transaction specific code is used to process your payment. This means that your actual credit or debit card number is never transmitted with the payment to the merchant.
Where can I use Android Pay?
Customers can use Android Pay at most merchant locations equipped with NFC-enabled contactless payment terminals.
Will I continue to earn rewards or points with my PNC debit or credit card using Android Pay?
If you are in a rewards program, you will continue to earn rewards or points for purchases made using your physical card, or through your card(s) enrolled in Android Pay.
What if I need to return an item I purchased using Android Pay?
The return process will vary by merchant. You may need to present a receipt from the merchant to return the item. To complete the return, hold your Android Pay device over the contactless payment terminal and wait for a vibration to confirm the return has been processed. You must use the same Android Pay enabled device you used to purchase the item to process the return.
Can I use Android Pay on my Android Wear device?
Android Pay is not available on Android Wear devices at this time.
Can I use a card other than my default card to make a purchase?
To pay with a card other than your default card, prior to making a payment you must unlock your mobile device, open the Android Pay app, tap the card you would like to pay to view the card details screen and select the option “Make Default”. This will make the selected card your new default card. When you go to make a transaction with Android Pay, you will now be able to complete your purchase using the desired card.
Why do I need to verify my card with PNC when I add it to Android Pay?
For security purposes, you may be asked to call PNC or use the PNC Mobile Banking app to verify your PNC debit or credit card when adding it to Android Pay.
What should I do when I receive a replacement card?
When a PNC credit or debit card enrolled in Android Pay expires or is replaced due to loss, theft, fraud or chip card upgrade, PNC will automatically update your card information in Android Pay within two (2) business days from when your replacement card is activated. To update Android Pay immediately and not wait the two (2) business days for the automatic update, manually remove the existing card and add the new card to the Android Pay app.
What happens if I replace, update or lose my Android Pay mobile device?
If you replace or update your Android mobile device, your PNC debit and credit card(s) enrolled in Android Pay will not be automatically transferred to the new device. You will need to set up Android Pay again and add your cards to the new device.
If your Android Pay device is ever lost or stolen, you can use Android Device Manager to remotely suspend or delete your PNC debit and credit cards from Android Pay, or call PNC using the number found on the back of your card to suspend it for you. You can continue to make purchases using your physical card even when the device account number is suspended on Android Pay.
Why does my card image in Android Pay look different from my physical card?
Your card image in Android Pay is a digital representation of your physical PNC credit or debit card. The image you see in Android Pay may not be an exact copy of your PNC card.
How do I remove a card from Android Pay?
To remove a card from Android Pay, simply select the card in the Android Pay app and tap the “Delete Card” option on the detail page. After deleting, you can re-add this card to Android Pay at any time.
Android Pay is accepted at over one million stores across the US. When you're ready to check out, look for the Android Pay or contactless payments symbol where you normally swipe your card.
When you see one of these symbols at checkout, hold your Android device in front of the secure reader to initiate your payment. The contactless reader communicates wirelessly with your phone, so all you need to do is tap, pay and you’re done.
Eligible Android devices must have an NFC antenna to be eligible. Please refer to the list of eligible devices in the "What mobile devices are eligible for Android Pay?" question and answer in Android Pay Basics above."
PNC MasterCard® and commercial credit cards are not eligible at this time.
PNC does not charge a fee for Mobile Banking. However, third party message and data rates may apply. These include fees your wireless carrier may charge you for data usage and text messaging services. Check with your wireless carrier for details regarding your specific wireless plan and any data usage or text messaging charges that may apply. Also, a supported mobile device is needed to use the Mobile Banking App. Mobile Deposit is a feature of PNC Mobile Banking. Use of the Mobile Deposit feature requires a supported camera-equipped device and you must download a PNC mobile banking app. Eligible PNC Bank account and PNC Bank Online Banking required. Certain other restrictions apply. See the mobile banking terms and conditions in the PNC Online Banking Service Agreement.
