Microsoft Wallet is a convenient new mobile payments service that lets you use your eligible Windows phone to make purchases in a snap. PNC customers can now add their consumer and small business credit and debit cards to Microsoft Wallet and start making purchases at millions of merchant faster than ever before.
Does PNC support Microsoft Wallet?
Yes. PNC customers can now add PNC Visa consumer and small business debit and credit cards and SmartAccess® cards to Microsoft Wallet. PNC commercial and MasterCard® credit cards are not eligible at this time. You can add an unlimited number of cards to Microsoft Wallet.
What mobile devices are eligible for Microsoft Wallet?
The following Windows phones are currently eligible for Microsoft Wallet: Lumia 650, Lumia 650 Dual SIM, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
Where can I download Microsoft Wallet?
Microsoft Wallet will come pre-loaded on new eligible Windows phones listed above. For customers who already have an eligible Windows phone, Microsoft Wallet will become available through a software update on your device. To receive this software update, your eligible Windows phone must be running Windows 10 or above.
How do I add my PNC card to Microsoft Wallet?
PNC customers with an eligible Windows phone will use the Microsoft Wallet app to add and manage their credit and debit cards. To add your first card to Microsoft Wallet, you will open the Microsoft Wallet app and follow the simple installation process. To add a card, touch the “Add a new card” button at the top of the screen and use the device camera to capture your card information or type it in manually. You can also link an existing card from your Microsoft account to your Microsoft Wallet app.
How do I verify my card for Microsoft Wallet?
For security reasons, you may be asked to provide extra verification to activate the cards you’ve added to Microsoft Wallet. To verify your card, simply tap on the desired card within the Microsoft Wallet app to view the card detail page, and select the “Call my bank” option. Once your over-the-phone activation has been completed, your card will be ready to use with Microsoft Wallet.
How do I use Microsoft Wallet?
Microsoft Wallet can be used to make in-store payments at most merchants equipped with NFC contactless payment terminals. To make an in-store payment, simply hold your eligible Windows phone near the contactless payment terminal to wake up Microsoft Wallet and enter your PIN to unlock the device. The card you selected as your default will be displayed on-screen. When you are ready to make a payment, simply hold your unlocked phone near the contactless payment terminal. A confirmation message on the payment terminal will let you know your purchase was successful.
How will Microsoft Wallet keep my information protected?
With Microsoft Wallet, your card information is never stored on the physical device or shared with the merchant. When you make a purchase, a digital account number along with a dynamic, transaction specific code is used to process your payment. This means that your actual credit or debit card number is never transmitted with the payment to the merchant.
Where can I use Microsoft Wallet?
Customers can use Microsoft Wallet at most merchant locations equipped with NFC-enabled contactless payment terminals.
Will I continue to earn rewards or points with my PNC debit or credit card using Microsoft Wallet?
If you are in a rewards program, you will continue to earn rewards or points for purchases made using your physical card, or through your card(s) enrolled in Microsoft Wallet.
What if I need to return an item I purchased using Microsoft Wallet?
The return process will vary by merchant. You may need to present a receipt from the merchant to return the item. To complete the return, hold your Windows phone over the contactless terminal and wait for a confirmation message on the payment terminal to let you know the return has been processed. You must use the same Windows phone you used to purchase the item to process the return.
Can I use a card other than my default card to make a purchase using Microsoft Wallet?
When using Microsoft Wallet, it’s easy to select a card other than your default card to make a purchase. Prior to making your payment, open the Microsoft Wallet app and select the card you wish to use as your default. On the card detail page, simply tap the “Set as my tap to pay card” option to set the selected card as your new default. Your new default card will now be displayed when you hold your Windows phone near a contactless payment terminal to make a purchase.
Why do I need to verify my card with PNC when I add it to Microsoft Wallet?
For security purposes, you may be asked to call PNC verify your PNC debit or credit card when adding it to Microsoft Wallet.
What should I do when I receive a replacement card?
When a PNC credit or debit card enrolled in Microsoft Wallet expires or is replaced due to loss, theft, fraud or chip card upgrade, PNC will automatically update your card information in Microsoft Wallet within two (2) business days from when your replacement card is activated. To update Microsoft Wallet and not wait the two (2) business days for the automatic update, manually remove the existing card and add the new card to the Microsoft Wallet app.
What happens if I replace, update or lose my Windows phone?
If you replace or update your Windows phone, your PNC debit and credit card(s) enrolled in Microsoft Wallet will not be automatically transferred to the new device. You will need to set up Microsoft Wallet again and add your cards to the new device.
If your Windows phone is ever lost or stolen, you can visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/find-lost-phone and log in using your Microsoft account to remotely suspend or delete your PNC debit and credit cards from Microsoft Wallet, or call PNC using the number found on the back of your card to suspend it for you. You can continue to make purchases using your physical card even when the device account number is suspended for Microsoft Wallet.
Why does my card image in Microsoft Wallet look different from my physical card?
Your card image in Microsoft Wallet is a digital representation of your physical PNC credit or debit card. The image you see in Microsoft Wallet may not be an exact copy of your PNC card.
Microsoft Wallet is a convenient new mobile payments service that lets you use your eligible Windows phone to make purchases almost anywhere you can tap your card. When you're ready to check out, simply look for the contactless payments symbol where you normally swipe your card.
If you see this symbol at checkout, just hold your Windows phone in front of the secure reader to send your payment. A message on the payment terminal will let you know your payment was successful.
PNC MasterCard® and commercial credit cards are not eligible at this time.
PNC does not charge a fee for Mobile Banking. However, third party message and data rates may apply. These include fees your wireless carrier may charge you for data usage and text messaging services. Check with your wireless carrier for details regarding your specific wireless plan and any data usage or text messaging charges that may apply. Also, a supported mobile device is needed to use the Mobile Banking App. Mobile Deposit is a feature of PNC Mobile Banking. Use of the Mobile Deposit feature requires a supported camera-equipped device and you must download a PNC mobile banking app. Eligible PNC Bank account and PNC Bank Online Banking required.
